Raven Scarlett, Scottish Gothic Romance and Dark Fantasy Author
Raven Scarlett is a Scottish gothic romance and dark fantasy author with a taste for haunted places, dangerous women, beautiful monsters, and love stories that probably should not end well. Born in Ballater, near the Cairngorm Mountains, Raven grew up surrounded by the landscapes, old stories, and folklore of the Scottish Highlands. Castles, ruined churches, mist-covered hills, ghost stories, and legends of things lurking beyond the firelight became part of her imagination long before she began putting them on the page.
She studied English literature at the University of Edinburgh, where a lifelong love of books became an obsession with the darker corners of fiction. Gothic literature, supernatural tales, tragic romance, and stories of forbidden desire became lasting influences on her work.
Today, Raven lives in the Scottish Highlands, where she writes stories about desire, obsession, immortality, and the dangerous things people are willing to do for love. Her fiction blends gothic atmosphere with dark romance, horror, fantasy, and characters who rarely make the sensible choice when a more interesting one is available.
Her forthcoming novel Devoured is a gothic vampire romance and the beginning of a dark, sensual world of blood, desire, obsession, and women who refuse to behave themselves. Consumed will follow, continuing Raven's exploration of love at its most dangerous and appetites that are not so easy to satisfy.
When she isn't writing, Raven can usually be found reading, wandering through old places, collecting stories and folklore, or enjoying a glass of whisky while insisting that staring out of a window counts as work.
She has a particular affection for complicated characters, morally questionable decisions, old houses, candlelight, Scottish weather, and monsters with just enough humanity left to make falling in love with them a terrible idea.
For Raven, the best stories are the ones that leave a mark.
